			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In my last article, <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" href="http://stayhealthyandwell.com/why-do-we-need-supplements/" target="_blank">“Why Do We Need To Take Supplements”</a>, we discussed the importance of taking natural supplements to support our body and our immune system.  But which supplements do we take and how do we know which supplements are the best ones?  With billions being spent every year on supplements, it is very important you understand that not all supplements are created equal….there are sometimes very vast differences between one product and another. </p>
<p>So let’s talk about the difference between “Whole Food Based” and “Synthetic or Isolated or Fractionated” Supplements.  A great example would be just to simply look at almost any Multi-Vitamin.  When you scan the nutritional content fact and ingredient label, you’ll see quite an assortment of vitamins….Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, etc.  Here is a portion of a label from a common multi-vitamin:</p>

<p>Now obviously there are alot more vitamins listed on this label than I had room for, but I think you get the idea.  Specifically, I want you to pay attention to the items listed under “Ingredients”.  Those are what we call “Isolated” vitamins and other “chemicals”.  There are no foods or herbal ingredients listed; only partial vitamins and other chemicals.  Nature intended for us to consume food in its WHOLE form because all the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and enzymes are together in one package and work synergistically together to bring your body the nutrition that it needs.  When you take one part away from the whole, you get “Synthetic”, “Isolated” or “Fractionated” pieces of the whole, but it is simply not the same.   The other problem is that by taking isolated vitamins, sometimes we are getting “massive” doses of some vitamins, but not enough of others.   Over time, this can cause health problems too and aren’t we trying to get healthy rather than cause more problems?</p>
<p>Whole-Food based supplements are different.  Typically, they will list the foods that the supplement was made from.  Here is an example of what to look for when searching for a Whole-Food based product.  Notice that under the supplemental facts, you’ll still see all the Vitamins listed, but see the difference under the Ingredients….now, there is actual WHOLE food listed:</p>

<p>What a difference this 2nd product will make in your body vs. the first product!  You’ll actually be gaining benefits from the WHOLE food and all of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and enzymes that occur naturally in the food or plant. </p>
<p>Another way that might make sense is to look at the source.  When it says “Vitamin C” on the label, what is the source of that Vitamin C?  What you want to see listed in the ingredient list is the foods; i.e., Citrus Fruits, Papaya, Bell Peppers, etc.  If you see “Ascorbic Acid” listed, that means it is an “Isolated” product.  Keep searching for one that lists the whole foods.</p>
<p>In summary, be sure you read your labels!  It is important to educate yourself about what you’ll be putting into your body and supplements are no different than anything else.   In one of my prior articles, <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" href="http://stayhealthyandwell.com/reading-food-labels/" target="_blank">“Reading Food Labels”</a>, we discussed the importance of reading the labels on the foods you’re eating, but it’s just as important if not more so, to be sure you’re reading all of your supplemental labels!  You want to be consuming supplements that have actual whole food, plants or herbs listed on the label; that way you know it is as close to natural as possible!  And lastly, understand that no supplement alone will help you achieve the level of health you desire….you will have to make lifestyle and behavior changes AND take supplements in order to achieve ultimate health.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Before you engage yourself in a body building work out, you need to know the basic exercises involving a body changing workout. And yes, what you need to know are the basics and facts which can more or less leave you in shock. What you need to keep in mind though is to concentrate on specific parts of your body to be able to gain muscle mass rapidly.&#13;</p>
<p>The parts of the body which allows fast muscle growth are the ones on the legs, back and the chest. These parts hold large muscles of the body and concentrating on these regions will help a person to not only gain muscle mass but strength as well. When using basic exercises, other areas of the body that you&#8217;re probably not concentrating on at the moment are also gaining mass and changing although you might not realize it.&#13;</p>
<p>What is emphasized as the goal for knowing the basic bodybuilding exercises is the idea to increase your muscle mass. In other words, performing and mastering the basic exercises can help a bodybuilder to become larger. Leave the exercises for smaller muscle groups for later. Concentrate on the large groups of muscle first.&#13;</p>
<p>The Squat, Deadlift, Bench Press, Bent-Over-Row, Overhead Press, Lat Pulldown, Chin, and Dip are among the basic exercises in body building any beginner should learn how to execute since this is when and how the muscles are able to coordinate with other muscles and joints of the body. What is recommended for beginners is to focus in gaining muscle mass without stressing the body too much or it will lead to exhaustion and bad body building outcome.&#13;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>No matter what stop light your car is parked at, chances are good that you can look over at any of the four street corners and see a fast food restaurant. Despite all of the technical advances and knowledge we are equipped with to help us lead healthy lifestyles, temptation is keeping our nation fat and a soaring need for healthy weight loss for over 65% of Americans. One cheeseburger won&#8217;t hurt us in the long run, we say, but ten years later we wonder how we became obese.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Another factor helping America achieve the status of being the fattest nation in the world, and an alarming need for healthy weight loss, is fad diets. We eat cheeseburgers, tacos and fried chicken at all of these fast food restaurants, then jump on whatever fad diet train that conveniently passes by in order to try and cheat our way back to good health. All it seems to be doing is making us even fatter.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>I struggled with being overweight for twenty years before finally realizing that cheaters never prosper, and it goes double when dealing with your health. I spent over $2,000 on various weight loss programs only to lose 60 pounds and gain back 80 pounds. The only logical solution I could come up with was that there was something wrong with me personally or I was using the wrong weight loss programs.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>But thankfully, I&#8217;m not the type of person who gives up. When I finally woke up and realized that there will never be some sort of miracle cure packaged nicely in one little healthy weight loss supplement that will help anyone lose weight, things became clear. In order to lose weight and keep it off for good, I had to face the fact that lifestyle changes must be made and I had to find a healthy weight loss program that would work for me.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Lifestyle modifications are the foundation of any successful long-term weight loss plan (eating less and moving more), and they require daily focus and discipline. I had chronic asthma all of my life and could not exercise or even breathe heavy, yet I still found a way to lose 70 pounds 15 years ago and have been medication free ever since. For me there was no other choice. It all came down to making simple decisions on a daily basis.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>The way I lost weight was by replacing high-fat and high-sugar foods with proper nutrition and targeted vitamins made from all natural ingredients. Specifically, I began replacing unhealthy meals with a soy-based protein shake that gave my body all of the proper nutrition that a huge high-calorie meal gives you, minus the salt, sugar and fat. Proper nutrition and less calories equals healthy weight loss. Did I give up the foods I love? No. I just don&#8217;t eat them quite so often.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>One of the biggest misconceptions that I have encountered since beginning to help people in their healthy weight loss journey is that all you have to do is eat vegetables and fruits to get the nutrition you need. Although these foods are a much healthier alternative than low-fat potato chips and cookies, you still have to eat too much of them to get the nutrition of a scientifically formulated protein shake.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Calories are calories no matter what the food source is, and the more you consume, the more you will gain weight. One 200 calorie soy-based protein meal replacement shake, for example, could be packed with all the nutrients found in eating 2,000 calories worth of food.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>The human body is complex and requires many different needs for all of your problems which cannot be solved with one little weight loss pill. Treating each organ individually so that it functions at its optimum performance is the safest way to achieve an overall wellness of the body. By taking an all-natural products targeted to help me breathe better, I was soon able to get off all of my asthma medications while achieving the weight loss I wanted.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Another reason why I was successful at losing weight and keeping it off was because I had a support system. My coach had been where I was, and struggled in the same ways to achieve weight loss. Because he was part of the program I began, my coach&#8217;s success was dependent on my success. And that is why I am so successful at helping people lose weight now. I have been there before and I know what it&#8217;s like.</p>

<p>The best part about the meal replacements and supplements I have conditioned myself to take every day to keep me healthy is the cost. It is cheaper for me to get the best nutrition possible into my system than it is to buy the extra value meal at any given fast food restaurant. How can you beat spending $3.50 per meal without putting your health at risk.</p>

<p>It is important that you understand the importance of making healthy choices as a new way of life. It is extremely difficult in America today to find the road to good health and stay on it, but you must if you want to achieve healthy weight loss and keep it off for good. Do not let poor food and diet choices rob you of living the best life you can live. For things to change, you&#8217;ve got to change.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of the top fitness goals is to get ripped 6 pack abs, but for many women this is a bad goal and this article will explain why.  Obviously, the answer to the question can women get ripped abs is, &#8220;Yes!&#8221; But, the answer to the question should women try to get ripped abs is a little less clear.</p>
<p>There are 2 main reasons that having ripped abs may not be the best fitness goal for women.  The first reason is that the low body fat percentage needed to achieve the ripped look may negatively affect hormones.  And, the second reason is that striving for extreme perfection and sometimes unattainable goals can lead to body image and self-esteem issues.  Let&#8217;s talk a little more about each reason.</p>
<p>Generally speaking to see their six pack, a woman needs to have a body fat percentage less than 18%, and many women will not actually have ripped abs until they get closer to 12% body fat.  Everyone has an essential amount of fat that they need to function at peak efficiency.  Generally, 10-12% body fat is considered the essential amount for women. </p>
<p>One of the main problems with low body fat percentage for both men and women is a disruption of the sex hormones estrogen and testosterone.  When a woman exercises excessively and has a low body fat percentage, her estrogen level can be disrupted which can lead to health problems. </p>
<p>The condition known as amenorrhea can develop when a woman exercises excessively and has a low body fat percentage.  Amenorrhea is a cessation of the menstrual cycle and it is associated with decreased bone density, stress fractures, and infertility.  Some people feel there is a connection between stress fractures in marathon runners and amenorrhea.  And some elite female athletes have trouble getting pregnant because their body fat is so low.  In order for a woman to get ripped abs, she may have to get her body fat percentage so low that it affects other aspects of her health.</p>
<p>In addition to affecting aspects of physical health, striving for a six pack may negatively affect mental health.  In today&#8217;s society, women are bombarded with messages that they are not pretty enough, thin enough, smart enough, or rich enough.  The pressure is immense and this drives people eating disorders and low self-esteem.</p>
<p>I understand that people want to be their best, and I always encourage people to go after their goals.  But, there has to be a balance between striving to improve and being content with who you are.  I also want people to remember that exercise is a healthy habit that is good to incorporate in your life for other reasons besides vanity.  When someone gets overly focused on the vanity goal of fitness, it is easy to lose site of the other benefits.  I know a lot of people give up working out because they don&#8217;t look like models after a month.</p>
<p>Obviously, women can get 6 pack abs, but if might not be the best goal for some women.  Try to think about all the health benefits of exercise in addition to the vanity benefits, and treat your body well.</p>

<p>My years of experience in the gym have taught me that ultimately it is a person’s mindset that decides whether or not he can pack on muscles and achieve bodybuilding muscle gain. </p>
<p>I’ve come across thousands of aspiring bodybuilders, and I’ve come to learn that when it comes to bodybuilding muscle gain, it is a person’s mindset that matters the most. </p>

<p>If you want to achieve bodybuilding muscle gain, you need to employ visualization and verbalization techniques. </p>
<p>These are your allies in the arena of bodybuilding muscle gain. </p>
<p>When you imagine that you’ve already achieved your goals and view yourself as you’d like others to see you, you’re visualizing. </p>
<p>Visualize yourself with ripped muscles, and pretty soon you’ll have them through hard work and motivation. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Fitness equipment is a large group of tools that are used in exercise and are referred to also as exercise equipment. These can include simple items such as balls, track shoes and skipping ropes as well as more complex pieces of equipment such as treadmills, weights, bicycles and many others. Today a wide range of fitness equipment is available for sale with new designs constantly being produced due to the high demand for equipment that is effective in building muscles and strength as well as for losing weight.</p>
<p>Some of the types of fitness equipment available for use can be classified according the type of exercise for which they are built. The first class to be discussed is the strength training equipment. These include free weights and machines referred to as the resistance machines.</p>
<p>The most common type of resistance machine is one that uses gravity as a resistance source. This design is used mainly in weight machines. Gravity in combination with a simple design of pulleys, wheels and inclines, uses a percentage of the weight of the user as the resistance transferred. Other types of resistance machines can use other forces other than gravity to provide resistance. These include friction, spring-loaded, fan-loaded or fluid-loaded machines.</p>
<p>Another type of equipment belonging to the strength training equipment is the bands and tubing, which are lightweight options for training at home and in the office.</p>
<p>The other class is the aerobic fitness equipment which is mainly the endless-path machines. These include devices such as the stationary bicycles, the treadmills, the elliptical trainers, aerobic riders, the stair climbers, the ski and rowing machines. The stationary bicycle focuses the exercise on the legs by the action of pedaling. The treadmills are an all body exercise as you may walk or run at various speeds. There are also some models that can simulate slopes for a more intense workout.</p>
<p>The stair climbers replicate the action of climbing a stairway. This device now also has modifications that replicate the pulling up action off the hands for a more through workout. The skiing and rowing machines work both the arms and legs simultaneously with the rowing machine also working the back muscles. The elliptical trainers are a cross between the stair climbers and the ski machines. The aerobic riders also exercise the arms and legs at the same time by the use of a simultaneous pull and push motion.</p>
<p>There is also a miscellaneous group of fitness equipment. These include items such as heart rate monitors and exercise balls as well as many others. The heart rate monitors are used as a motivational tool in exercise as they monitor the heart rate and provide feedback to the individual exercising. The use of exercise balls has become very important in training such as flexibility training and for balance as well.</p>

Recent surveys show that more than half of the adults in the U.S. consume health food supplements in different forms, such as tablets, capsules, powders, soft gels, gel caps and liquids.</p>
<p>The increased consumption of health food supplements can be attributed to public awareness of health issues and improved standard of living in our society. Many studies have shown that there is a close correlation between health and nutrition. Insufficient supply of nutrients can weaken our body defense mechanism, causing medical problems from common ailments to more severe illnesses in the long term.</p>
<p>There are different types of health food supplements, including macronutrients (amino acids, proteins, essential fatty acids), micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), enzymes (digestive enzymes and antioxidant enzymes), probiotics (beneficial bacteria in the gut), and herbal supplements. These supplements have unique functions in our body. They are either essential for life and good health, modulate our immune system or help with liver detoxification, digestion, mental clarity, etc.</p>
<p>Many people argue that there is no need to consume health food supplements as long as you have a healthy lifestyle and eat a balanced diet. While this may be true, the fact is maintaining a healthy lifestyle and proper diet is difficult to achieve by many people.</p>
<p>Over the past few decades, the green revolution has changed the farming practices over the world. We use more chemical fertilizers, more pesticides to grow the food produce in order to increase harvest and shorten the growth period.
