People are getting more and more conscious about their looks and physique. However, the path to reach those sexy six pack abs is more or less difficult. Actually, the right type of time investment and diet can help you reach your goal but there are controversial views about these “right” methods. Hence, many times we get caught up in this vicious circle and fail to get those six pack abs. Media keeps on circulating contradicting viewpoints about diet, exercise and other methods that help to flatten your abs. One thing that you must keep in mind is “all that glitters is not gold”. Now, that you know it, I have a solution to your problem; you can flatten your abs in a quicker and healthier way.

There are 5 major key points for getting 6-pack abs. Let’s take a look at them:

1) Proper diet:

In order to flatten your abs, you must maintain proper diet. Exercising doesn’t work without proper diet. A well maintained diet helps in losing body fat in a faster way thus, paving your way towards getting lean flat abs. So, what exactly is a proper diet? A proper diet is nothing but a diet that contains the best kinds of fats and nutrients. For example, nuts, avocados, fish, eggs, coconut milk; organically raised meat has omega-3 fatty acids that help in losing bad cholesterol. You must choose eating whole grains (even better are sprouted grains, as I usually recommend limiting grain foods overall for best results) instead of refined grains. Fruits are natural sources of sugar, thus, eating them instead of refined sugar will flatten your abs in a much faster way. And of course a healthy portion of fresh vegetables with every meal will add the fiber, vitamins, and nutrients necessary to stabilize insulin levels and promote fat burning while filling you up so you do not feel hungry.

The key is to not go for some gimmick like extremely low carbs (although I do believe in a fairly reduced carb intake as that is a big problem for most people), low fat, super high protein, or any other combination that has you focusing on one macro nutrient vs. another.

2) Don’t get blinded by media reports:

This might sound a little odd but conflicting media reports are one of major reasons why people don’t get great abs. To be more specific, on and off we hear news about fat loss qualities of some food item but the very next day we hear the opposite. Secondly, you find these silly diet books in the market about low carb, low fat, high protein, vegetarian, fasting, Atkins, south beach, liquid diets, and hundreds more that offer mostly impractical information at a ridiculous price. So, the second major key point to get great abs is ignoring the hype. Don’t rush or jump to conclusions. No matter how badly you want to flatten your abs, have patience and do thorough research.

3) Do Intense Workouts:

It is an old saying that, “Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted”. Therefore, it is essential to do intense workouts. You cannot lose belly fat by concentrating only on your abs. You must concentrate on your entire body. Rest for short periods and work on the biggest muscle groups of your body.

4) Forget Crunches and Sit ups:

To flatten your abs, one of the major key points is to forget crunches and sit ups. In order to get six pack abs you must do exercises that offer immense amount of resistance. Crunches and sit ups offer the least amount of resistance and are hence, bad exercises to attain your desired six pack abs.

5) Right Exercise:

You can flatten your abs faster if your method of exercise stimulates fat burning metabolism of your stomach. As mentioned earlier in this article it is essential to concentrate on the whole body instead of just abs. Making use of full body, multiple-joint resistance weight training exercise intended to target the abs region of your stomach is the secret for fast abdominal muscle development. Examples of these are:

 

Squats
Dead lifts
Lunges
Step-ups
Clean & presses
Mountain climbers
