Some people may think that a man with six packs in his abs is health. Are you still sure about that? Okay, maybe you can say that someone is health from his/her outside appearance. But there are so many method to measure how healthy you are.
Weight is the common indicator of someone’s health. Actually, weight is not too reliable. You must compare your weight with your height. That’s called BMI (Body Mass Index). It’s calculated from weight/height. If the result is between 18-25, you are healthy. The one who is so muscular may have BMI over than 25 that would place him to overweight. BMI is only for people who has age that more than 16. Because we must also compare it with their age and potential for growth.
The other ‘health symbol’ is body shape. The ‘Apple-shape’ is one of the unhealthy symbol, because they body fat is stored in the middle. These ‘apple-shape’ owner can be linked with health problems such as heart disease. Be frequently to measure your waistline. If you have waistline more than 35 inches, you are probably in the risk of health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol.
Our skin can also be indicator of our healthy. Tan, freckles or flyspeck who has odd shape or growth, this probably a symbol of an unhealthy skin. The sun radiation can increase the risk of skin cancer. Use sunblock and go to dermatologist to have an opinion about your skin.
When you brush your teeth, don’t forget to see your spit. If there is blood, you need to pay attention to your gum. The bleeding gum signs unhealthy oral and vitamin deficiencies. Gum disease can also be an indicator from a problem of your cardiovascular. Blood on the toothbrush is the first sign of gingivitis. But don’t be afraid, gingivitis can be prevented. Then, check your lips. If your lips feels chapped and dry, you may be dehydrated. Dehydration can cause headaches and tiredness, as well as drain the moisture from your skin making it look old and dry.
Don’t forget to see your fingernails. The healthy fingernails and toe nails are smooth, strong and colorless. If yours are brittle, yellowing, crumbling, have ridges, and having white spots, these are obvious signs that your nails are unhealthy. The nail problems can indicate fungal, bacterial, viral or yeast infection. It can also show an abnormal level of oxygen in the blood, thyroid disease, kidney disease, psoriasis and a vitamin deficiency or malnutrition.
You can not depends on six packs abs to say that you’re a healthy person. There are so many symbol of a good health that can’t be ignored. (dz)
