Stupd ppl, you think they write what really its really made out of? yeah, they dont write it for our food, not to mention pet food.
I use Cod Oil with my Dogo and it works great!!! and i have a Furminator lol and that also works great!
I would supplement with cod liver oil or a little olive oil. You don’t need much and you should also know that you’ll never stop shedding. You can reduce it by feeding good food and I would also recommend a Furminator. They are excellent for keeping the shedding under control.
Good luck!

Nutro is responsible for high volumes of copper that are destroying dog’s liver and kidneys. Avoid them by all means.
Good tips, but couple more things you should have added:
1) Good quality food should have a specified meat meal such as chicken meal, lamb meal, etc, not just generic meat and bone meal which means it could be anything including euthanized cats and dogs
2) Avoid synthetic source of Vitamin K3 (Menadione), which is banned from human consumption due to its high toxicity, some of it which includes anemia and neonatal brain and liver damage.
this is going to help my dog
go natural!!! chicken, fruits and vegetables formula!!!
I meant they don’t need carbs from grains. They do need carbs but from fruits and vegetables and in lower quantities.
I read in the Orijen website that dogs don’t need carbs in their diets because their bodies work differently from ours and that’s why their dog food is 70% meat and 30% fruits/veggies.
Raw- chicken, whole egg with the shell, kale, turnip greens, and carrots-preserved by freezing. Where do you get such a food? You make it yourself, or you can even buy it from the internet or a number of pet businesses. Why? Protien sources in pet food may come from soy and yet worse, fertilizer from China. Grain is unatural and linked with disease and dental problems. I’ve never had to recall any food I made myself!
Orijen is the way to go!
It is good, but,,, i did not hear about % of this meat, some brands like pedigree etc have only 3% of meat, and is the worst food, and some another have much much more like 30, 40, 50, and 80% (like orijen) meat.
the abandoned animal that i rescued ate Eukanuba. i’m fighting to get him away from his neglectful previous owners and i need support.

Hi Eric. This is Edna with Nutro. I just wanted to say that it’s great that you explain the basics of reading ingredients in dog food!
Thanks also for the mention of our Max line, just one of the 3 lines available from Nutro!
I give my pekingese Royal Canin and I just got a maltipoo puppy that I’m in the process of switching her food from pro plan to royal canin. Is Royal Canin really good food? I’ve never had a never before and a trainer recommended Royal Canin but then another person said that its not good food for dogs because some dogs had died because of that brand of dog food.
Also, I would go with a food that has only human grade ingredients. For all you that may not know, most rendering plants also render dogs and cats along with the drugs use to euthanize them, flea collars and tags. Also spoiled meat from supermarkets complete with the plastic wrap and foam trays. I would say that 90% of the dog food out there is garbage and will over time kill your dog.
Thank you Eric, if your video get even one person to think then you have done your job. CANIDAE is a quality food made from, I believe, only human grade ingredients or at least it used to be. There are a lot of people I talk to that have had problems with it since the formula change. Also if it says Lamb meal that means that % of lamb is higher than the other stuff that is in there and not that lamb is the only meat source that could be in that particular batch. Whole lamb may be better.
Thank you Eric, I was wondering if grain free foods would affect my husky’s overall health. We are avid runners and I am operating under the assumption my husky needs his carbs?
Looked like an empty bag of CANIDAE there. I’ve had a few empty bags myself. GREAT stuff!
We need more videos exposing the commercial dog food industry. If these things were allowed in the human food chain the manufacturers would be arrested – or killed – yet it is perfectly legal for the pet food industry to market this sewage in their dog food and use euphemisms like “meat digest” (contents of stomach & intestines) in their list of “ingredients”. If it’s unfit for human consumption it should be ilegal to feed to your pet.
I like this video, but I’ve got a hard enough time checking the labels on my own foods. Is there a brand that you suggest. My adult male Pekingese was mauled by a large St. Bernard 1 wk ago & he survived (w/ surgery). He has a hard time eating, but I’ve been hand-feeding him Science Diet adult canned beef entree…he eats about 3 oz (wt) per day for a 14 lb Peke. It has some rice in it. Is that ok for his recovery, or should he eat puppy food for more healing calories? what about then he’s well?
Excellent. I have never heard of it but I will check it out. Thanks for sharing.
I feed my GSD Timberwolf Organics…it seems to help my dog and it is a natural food source.
Thank you for sharing this video. Good, simple points that people can easily remember and understand. At the least, people might think before they decide to grab that bag of dollar store dog food.
